Botanical Name: Heliconia psittacorum x spathocircinata 'Guadalupe'Native Region/Environment: Tropical Americas Sun/Light: Full sun to partial shade Temperature: Outdoors they are die-back tender perennials and require over winter protection from frosts but freezes will be terminal. Indoors are ideal year round Water: Heliconia roots prefer to remain consistently moist but can occasionally tolerate brief dry periods. Soil: Organically rich, moist but draining soil/ Growth Pattern: Upright arching out with a clumping base. As with all heliconia it grows from a rhizome so it will slowly spread laterally, under ground, creating the clumping appearance. Mature Size: Typically grows to height of 4'-5' but may reach 6'-7' under ideal conditions, with lush tropical leaves up to 3' long and 1' wide. Attributes: Stunning long lasting flowers in reds, oranges and yellow with green accents. Superb specimen plant in the garden with frost winter protection, as a patio potted plant or indoors provided ample light. Heliconia 'Guadalupe' is over-all about twice the size of the common H. psittacorum's but otherwise is similar in appearance.. Attractor: Pollinators, insects and hummingbirds |

Under good growing conditions it should flower in the first year.
Heliconia 'Guadalupe' is not commonly available.
