Botanical Name: Hoya elmeri

Native Region/Environment: Philippines

Sun/Light: Bright indirect light or mild direct morning light.

Temperature:  Ideal temperatures are between 60 and 80F.

Water:  Allow top of soil to dry to the touch.  avoid root rot by not over watering or placing in standing water.

Soil:  Porous, well draining fertile soil.

Growth Pattern:  Climbing and twining evergreen perennial vine with distinctive curves elliptical leaves.

Mature Size:  Able to grow several 5' or more vines on a trellis or moss pole, or cascading from an elevated pot or hanging basket. Occasional pruning will result in a fuller plant.

Attributes: Umbels of rich, deep burgundy flower petal covered with white hairs and a white, waxy corona often blooming in profusion simultaneously on mature plants.  Low maintenance.  Very long lasting blooms. Do not remove peduncles (flower stalks) after blooming-hoya rebloom from the same peduncles which will increase in length after each successive bloom.

Attractor:  Flowers are laden with abundant subtle fruity nectar that attract hummingbirds, bees, butterflies and moths.
