Botanical Name: Hoya carnosa 'rubra'Native Region/Environment: SE Asia and Australia Sun/Light: Bright indirect light or mild direct morning light. Temperature: Ideal temperatures are between 55 and 80F. Water: Allow top of soil to dry to the touch. Prone to root rot if left in standing water. Soil: Porous, well draining fertile soil. Growth Pattern: Trailing, twining evergreen perennial vines. Mature Size: Compact grower preferring a growing trellis with vines under 3'. Attributes: New growth is pink to red initially greening with maturity. Blooms have a light chocolate scent. Small root systems relative to potential plant size. Low maintenance. Do not remove peduncles (flower stalks) after blooming-hoya rebloom from the same peduncles which will increase in length after each successive bloom. Attractor: Flowers are laden with abundant sweet nectar that attract hummingbirds, bees, butterflies and moths. Pot: 4" |
