Botanical Name: Philodendron hastatum 'Silver Sword'

Native Region/Environment: Brazilian rainforests

Sun/Light: Bright, indirect light,  Morning sun is very good.

Temperature: Indoor temperatures above 60 degrees; Outdoors in USDA zones 10b-12.

Water: Allow the soil to dry to the touch.  Better to thoroughly dampen the soil when watering than to water with smaller amounts, more frequently that leaves the soil unevenly moist.  To prevent root rot do not leave in standing water.

Soil: Rich organic matter in a fast draining soil blend.

Growth Pattern: Perennial climbing vine using strong aerial roots to attach and support its weight. Moderate growth rate.

Mature Size:, In a native habitat, Silver Sword, is capable of climbing heights over 30'.  In a domesticated environment 10' is more likely.  It may grow 5'-6' depending on the growing conditions.

Attributes: Attractive sword shaped leaves with a silver-pewter finish over a greenish hue.  The petioles are a vibrant green bean green color delivering a rewarding contrast.

Pot: 3.5" or 4"

Philodendron 'Silver Sword' is classified as rare and very unusual. 

Staggered pruning will force branching that will help the plant become fuller.
