Collection: Scindapsus

Scindapsus is a genus in the Araceae family that is native to Southeast Asia, New Guinea, Queensland and a few Pacific islands.  There are less than 40 recognized species.  Although originating from a different region, Scindapsus is almost indistinguishable from the members of the Epipremnum genus. The most telling difference is in the number and shape of the seeds.

Scindapsus are natural climbers that use much smaller aerial roots to affix to than other similar climbers.  Scindapsus tend to remain smaller with vines under 10 foot. Another characteristic is that they 'scallop' their leaves, meaning, that the leaves have a natural minor curl to them already and the leaves will press up tight against what they are climbing, especially when they are conserving moisture.

Scindapsus lack any of the toxic or harmful defensive adaptations of the other botanically similar species.
